Scotland's Cross Party Parliamentary Group meeting with SCC Mayor

The six-member cross-party parliamentary group (CPG) headed by Bangladeshi-born member of parliament Faisal Chowdhury MBE in the Parliament of Scotland for the first time, Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Md. Courtesy meeting with Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury.
The courtesy meeting was held on Thursday at 11 am in the mayor's conference room of Sylhet City Corporation.
During the courtesy call, Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury said that Bangladesh has had good relations with Scotland for a long time. There many citizens of Sylhet are working with reputation socially and politically along with business. Not only Scotland but the entire Great Betrain has the citizens of Sylhet marching. They are enriching the country economically by sending remittances from those places.
The Mayor thanked the members of the Cross Party Parliamentary Group (CPG) of Scotland for coming to the Sylhet City Corporation for a courtesy call on behalf of the people of Sylhet.
Faisal Chowdhury said that the lack of English language skills of Bangladeshi workers is hindering their recruitment. He requested the workers to go to that country by becoming proficient in English language. He also expressed interest in working with Sylhet City Corporation.
Scottish MPs lauded the unprecedented development of Bangladesh in the last 15 years. They noted that expatriate Bangladeshis are involved in mainstream politics in Scotland and there are currently around 200 elected councilors of Bangladeshi origin.
The meeting was attended by Fahima Yasmin, Acting CEO of Sylhet City Corporation, Leader of the Scottish Cross-Party Group of the Delegation and Scotland's Shadow Minister for Culture, International Development and Europe Faisal Chowdhury MBE, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Local Government, Housing and Social Justice Miles Briggs, Scottish MP Evelyn Tweed, Immigration and Immigration Expert Work Permit Cloud Founder Barrister Md Lutfur Rahman, Scottish Cross-Party Group Advisor and Channel S Head of Program Farhan Masood, Official Secretariat Junaid Hossain Chowdhury.
Earlier, Mayor Skodland welcomed the delegation to Sylhet City Corporation with flowers. Later he presented the traditional Nakshikatha gifts.
