Three new faces smiled victory in Patuakhali Sadar Upazila Parishad elections held on Sunday, June 9, postponed due to Cyclone Rimal. However, Rezaul Karim Soeb, who wanted to be the president of the district Jubo League, was elected as the chairman of the upazila parishad.

In the 3rd phase of the 6th Upazila Parishad general election held on June 9 (Sunday)- 2024 with 1 municipality and 14 unions, Ghora Marker candidate was elected to the post of chairman in the Patuakhali Sadar Upazila Parishad election with a huge margin of votes.

Rezaul Karim Swaib. He received 32,627 votes. His closest competitor is the pineapple marker candidate district Awami League member former vice chairman Md. Mizanur Rahman Monir got 22,164 votes.

Out of 2,95,146 voters, 96,451 voters cast their votes in this election. Assistant Returning Officer Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yadav Sarkar said that 2872 votes have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, Mike Prateek's candidate for the post of vice chairman, Hasan Shikder, the former president of District Chhatra League, was elected by getting 18,658 votes. His closest rival, candidate of Tubewell symbol, Municipal Awami League leader Chinmoy Vanik Suman got 17,608 votes.

Butterfly symbol candidate for the position of female vice chairman is Mosa. Kamron Nahar Shimul was elected by getting maximum 35,622 votes. His closest rival, football symbol candidate Musa Nasima Akhter, got 29,223 votes.

Voting was held in 703 polling booths of 97 centers of 1 municipality and 14 unions in Patuakhali Sadar Upazila. Returning Officer Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Yadav Sarkar confirmed that 32.68 percent of the total 2,95,146 votes were cast in Sadar Upazila.
