Another name for the relative terror is the Russell Viper snake. In different upazilas of Rajshahi, the common people of the riverside areas, farmers, various cattle farm owners and people of different professions are in fear. According to the Wildlife Department, there is nothing to fear about the Russell Viper. This snake is peaceful in nature but killing different species of snakes.

Around 11:00 am on Sunday, local residents killed 8 Russell viper snakes at Achintala on the bank of Padma river in Kuthipara village under Ward No. 4 of Charghat Municipality district of Rajshahi.

Due to the proximity of the river, many unknown snakes, including poisonous snakes, are trying to get together, the locals said. Various farm owners, farmers say that due to natural or artificial reasons, weather benefits of 6 seasons are not available due to sudden snake infestation. There is no rain in the monsoon season, the heat is intense and the touch of winter is slight. Creation is changing due to irregular seasons. Many animals are becoming extinct.

They have heard about snakes and snakes in stories or history. But in modern age new generations are playing with toy animals and on the other hand live animals are being destroyed. Abhay Aranya means there is no fallow land where animals can safely take shelter. Mainly due to extreme heat, snakes are running around looking for safe shelter. Moreover, due to lack of rain, their food is not prepared. Due to the lack of forestry, snake resistant animals are not even seen.

Upazila agriculturist Al Mamun Hashan said that farmers are being instructed to cultivate the crops with awareness.

Apart from this, the agricultural officers at the field level are also working with the farmers to increase awareness. Incidentally, District Agriculture Deputy Director Umme Salma told the correspondent of the newspaper that instructions have been given to all the offices of different upazilas of the district.

Awareness about Russel Viper is being done in various programs including yard meetings, field days. Farmers have been advised to wear gumboots when they go to the field. Similarly, the district animal resource officer Dr. Zulfikar Mohammad Akhtar Hossain said that all the farmers have been asked to clean the surrounding bushes.

It has been suggested to make preparations to prevent various poisonous snakes from entering the farm including lighting at night. District Wildlife Inspector Jahangir Kabir said that the statement that Russell Viper infestation has increased is not a scientific fact. However, the number of snakes may increase. Various seasonal crops are grown in the current agricultural land.

When the yield in the land is high, the number of rats in that land will naturally increase. Rats are the main food of snakes. Due to which the snakes are getting enough food and their reproduction is increasing. Russell Viper is a calm nature snake.

This snake does not bite or bite any other animal. Rumors are spreading about the Russell Viper infestation. Finally, he said, many innocent snakes called Russell vipers are being killed. Which is harmful for the environment.
