A group of terrorists beat up Awami League worker Ujjal Kumar (26) in front of his parents and wife at his house in Kalikapur of Baraigram upazila of Natore on Wednesday last.

After learning about the matter, BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi came to Ujjal Kumar's house on Sunday to express condolences and inquire about the situation. He also expresses to stand beside Ujjal Kumar. He wants to give all kinds of help to recovery from illness and present situation.

Thana BNP's joint convener and former chairman of Majhgaon Union Parishad Abdul Alim, former organizing secretary of the Bonpara Municipal Sramik Dal Md Abdullah, Member Secretary of the Bonpara Municipal BNP Sardar Rafiqul Islam, former office secretary Asad Mollah and local municipal BNP leaders were present at the time.

Ujjal Kumar is the son of a vegetable trader Bishonath Mondol of Kalikapur village of the upazila. Some youths went to Ujjal's Kalikapur house and beat him in front of his family. Ujjal's parents and wife repeatedly held their hands and feet and prevented them. They begged Ujjal to be released.

Locals said that Ujjal Kumar had been in hiding since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5. On Wednesday last, Ujjal went to his own house in Kalikapur to see a doctor for his pregnant wife. After hearing this, some youths organized themselves and went to Ujjal's house and started beating him severely in front of his family.

At that time, when Ujjal's pregnant wife and his elderly parents came forward to rescue him, they were also pushed and thrown away. At one point, Ujjal became unconscious.

OC of Baraigram Police Station Sirajul Islam said that Ujjal was rescued and first admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. From there, he was detained and sent to court on Thursday (November 21) morning. Later, the court granted bail to Ujjal.
