Roof garden is becoming popular day by day in Cumilla. The roofs of houses in the city are being filled with gardens of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Which is also playing a role in meeting their own needs along with green urbanization and environmental balance.

These gardens are made by filling the soil with a false roof on the roof. Vegetables are being cultivated in the gardens along with various local and foreign fruits. As green urbanization is taking place, it is also meeting the demand for non-toxic fruits and vegetables. Throughout the year the gardens have a variety of fruits and vegetables. Urmee Akter, the owner of one such roof garden, said, 'I have built the garden not only as a hobby but also to eat poison-free fruits and vegetables. The fruit produced in my garden is slightly different in taste from the fruit in the market, but healthy.'

Sagor Ali is the owner of a four-storied building in Shashangacha area of Cumilla . He said, "The needs of the family are met by growing vegetables on the roof." Sometimes we even distribute to the tenants.

More than 5 lakh people live in Cumilla city. Whose daily needs are a large amount of fruits and vegetables. If every building has a roof garden in stages then the demand will be met at least to some extent. Besides, the city will be green. Therefore, the city residents hope that the city corporation will come forward quickly in this regard.

Cumilla City Corporation Mayor said that not only fruits, but also various types of vegetables are being cultivated in the rooftop garden. Which meets the daily needs.

He also said that initiatives will be taken to reduce the holding tax of owners of garden buildings by 10 percent to encourage rooftop gardens.
