Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaikobad) on Sunday expressed profound sorrow, grave concern, and fierce condemnation following a deadly attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which caused multiple casualties and left several Bangladeshi nationals injured.
The Minister personally contacted Mohammad Ali Kashemi, the group leader coordinating the affected Bangladeshi Umrah pilgrims, to review the condition of the injured. He emphasized providing immediate, comprehensive medical treatment, ensuring safety, and extending necessary support, including secure alternative accommodation for stranded pilgrims.
Highlighting the sacred status of Saudi Arabia as the custodian of the Holy Kaaba and the Prophet’s Mosque, the Minister stated that the safety and stability of the Kingdom are paramount to the global Muslim Ummah. He declared that attacks on innocent pilgrims and host territories are entirely unacceptable and called on Muslim-majority nations to stand united in condemning such acts of violence.
Minister Kaikobad further noted that, under the direct instructions of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the Ministry of Religious Affairs alongside relevant ministries and government agencies are maintaining round-the-clock monitoring. Highest priority is being accorded to the treatment, security, housing, and smooth travel arrangements for Bangladeshi citizens currently in Saudi Arabia.
