RAB-4 arrested accused Md Abul Mia alias Rajiv (45), who was convicted in a rape case after 21 years in Singair of Manikganj.

The arrested Md. Abul Mia alias Rajib is the son of Geda Fakir of Dhalla North Para of Dhalla Union of Upazila.

He was arrested from Nayapara Mor area of Dhalla Union of Upazila at around 11:15 on Sunday (February 25).

It is known that the rape victim is a 17-year-old garment worker from Charulail area of Dhalla Union of the upazila. He used to work at a garment in Savar's Hemayetpur from home. Accused Abul Mia alias Rajib, who was sentenced to 14 years in the gang rape case of the garment worker, has sold daily labor and vegetables in different parts of the country to hide his identity.

In the interrogation and statement of the arrested accused, it is known that the garment worker (17) used to earn his living by working in a garment factory in Hemayetpur of Dhaka district from his home.

He used to go from home to work. On the way to Garmentes, Abul Mia (25) used to make bad suggestions. When Abul Mia (25), Manik (28), Khalek (50) and Kalam (50) grabbed their faces and throats and forcibly abducted them on their way to Dhalla market in Singair Upazila on May 27, 2003, on their way from garments, Abul Mia became enraged. By taking a secluded place and gang-raping. Later left the scene with serious injuries and threats of death.

After that the local people came to the spot on the victim's call and rescued the victim and admitted him to Singair Upazila Health Complex. In this incident, the victim's father, Md. Bhola, filed a rape case in the Manikganj Women and Children Suppression Tribunal as a plaintiff. Which CR Case No-564/03 Section-Prevention of Torture against Women and Children Act 7/9 (3)/30.

After the investigation, the investigating officer in the case filed a charge sheet against Abul (25) and Manik (28) in the learned court based on the facts and evidence of the incident.

On May 14, 2017, the learned court sentenced the accused Abul (25) to 14 years and Abul and Manik to life imprisonment under Section 9(3). As the accused was absconding to avoid arrest in that case, the court issued an arrest warrant against the accused.
