In recognition of its special contribution to family planning, maternal and child health care and adolescent health care activities, Rangpur Sadar Upazila has been selected as the best upazila at the district and divisional levels on 'World Population Day 2025'.
This announcement was made at a discussion meeting and award ceremony organized on the occasion of World Population Day at the Rangpur Divisional Family Planning Office on Thursday afternoon.
Honorable Divisional Commissioner of Rangpur Md. Shahidul Islam, ndc, was present as the chief guest on the ceremony and presented a memento and certificate.
UNO Md. Saiful Islam received the award on behalf of Sadar Upazila administration . The Deputy Director of Family Planning of Rangpur District, Civil Surgeon, Divisional Health Officer and representatives and officials of various government and private departments concerned were present as special guests on the ceremony. It was informed in the meeting that Rangpur Sadar Upazila has achieved continuous success in promoting family planning activities, maternal and child health, and adolescent healthcare in the fiscal year 2024-25.
The upazila has achieved this with the relentless efforts of the officers and employees responsible at the field level and the cooperation of local NGOs. The Divisional Commissioner said in his speech, “Family planning is a development indicator, through its successful implementation, it is possible to bring positive changes in the society. Rangpur Sadar Upazila has set that example.” Upazila Executive Officer Md. Saiful Islam said, “This achievement is the fruit of our collective efforts.
This achievement would not have been possible without the sincere cooperation of all concerned, including the Health and Family Planning Department.” The theme of this year's World Population Day 2025 was: “Empowering young people to form families for children for health and dignity.”
At the end of the program, successful individuals and organizations in various categories including the best upazila, best healthcare center, and best field worker were awarded.
