Quantum Lab blood donors cross half a million

Staff Correspondent

The number of volunteer blood donors of Quantum Foundation crossed half a million as a total of 507,089 donors have donated blood on a regular and irregular basis during the last 24 years to date.

This is possible as The Foundation which serves humanity can motivate over 2000 new volunteer donors through honoring them every month.

These were disclosed by speakers on Tuesday during a reception function organised in honour of blood donors of the Silver Club, Golden Club and Platinum Club for donating 10, 25 and 50 times in life at IDEB Bhaban.

Director General of NGO Bureau under the Prime Minister’s Office Mohammad Saidur Rahman attended the function as chief guest.

Presided over by QF Voluntary Blood Donors Programme's Chief Coordinator Nahar Al Bukhari, the function was also addressed by Director Motivier of QF M Rezaul Hasan.

Mohammad Doulat Al Rashid, a donor of 50 times, spoke on the occasion on behalf of donors and Thalassemia patient Ayesha Akter Akhi on behalf of blood recipients.

The speakers said the Quantum Lab has been able to stand beside many critically sick patients during its two-decade journey for the sacrifice of blood donors. Since its inception, it has also been able to provide 1.597 million units of blood to date-- average of one hundred thousand in a year.
