The Water Development Board (WDB) has taken up the field to implement multi-faceted projects including river development in Chapainawabganj.

On this occasion, the Water Development Board (WDB ) organized a public hearing at its own office on Thursday (February 13) morning. The public hearing was held on the ongoing and proposed projects in the district under the Bangladesh Water Development Board Chapainawabganj.

It was presided over by Md. S. M. Ahsan Habib, Executive Engineer of Water Development Board Chapainawabganj. The public hearing was attended by 53 BGB Assistant Director Rafiqul Islam, District Information Officer Roop Kumar, Assistant Director of the Department of Environment Md. Abu Sayeed, Assistant Commissioner of the Deputy Commissioner's Office Tayef Ullah Huzaif, Principal of Baliadanga Fazil Madrasa Md. Munirul Haque, Convener of the anti-Discrimination Student Movement Md. Abdur Rahim, Professor of Shibganj Women's Degree College Kamal Uddin, UP member of Shibganj Ward 2 Md. Saidur Rahman, Journalist of Nagorik TV Faruk Ahmed Chowdhury, Masudur Rahman, iswe Faruk Ahmed, A. H. M. M. Bachchu, Teacher of Charjagannathpur Girls High School Saheb Jan Master, Contractor Jamal Uddin Naser, Contractor Khwaja Tarek, Contractor Abdullah Khan and Contractor Alhaj Rakibur Rahman.

The public hearing discussed the progress of current projects, the potential impact of the proposed projects and future plans. Officials of the Water Development Board presented details about the environmental and social impact of the projects and the benefits to the local people. In addition, local residents presented their opinions and problems.

At this time, the speakers said that these projects will play an important role in preventing river erosion, controlling floods, reducing waterlogging and increasing irrigation facilities in the district.

Executive Engineer of the Water Development Board Md. S, M, Ahsan Habib said, The project will be implemented by giving importance to the opinions of the people. This will improve the quality of life of the local people and pave the way for solving real problems.
