Public awareness meeting under Hilsa Resource Development and Management Project in Barishal

Mehendiganj Upazila Administration organised a public awareness meeting and VGF support programme under Hilsa Resource Development and Mnagement Project in Barishal at the upazila parishad auditorium on Sunday.
Deputy Commissioner Barisal Mohammad Delwar Hossain was the chief guest on the occasion. Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mehendiganj Md. Neshar Uddin presided over the event.
Assistant Commissioner District Commissioner's Office Barisal Md Rabiul Islam Bhuiyan, Upazila Fisheries Officer Mehendiganj Md Imran Hossain, representative of Officer In-charge along with fishermen and people related to fisheries were present. In a brief discussion at the beginning, the chief guest and other guests discussed important issues in the development of hilsa resources.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Barishal Mohammad Delwar Hossain inaugurated the VGF support program in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal district. 1417.50 metric tons of rice will be distributed among 56,700 fishermen families in 9 upazilas of Barisal district.
Out of this, 461.67 metric tons of food grains will be distributed for 22 days to 18667 fishermen in Mehendiganj upazila. It should be noted that hilsa fishing is prohibited for 22 days from 13 October to 3 November 2024.
