Protest marches and rallies were held in Singra, Natore, under the slogan 'Save the farmer, save the country' to ensure fair prices for paddy and prevent various irregularities in the electricity and energy sectors.

On Wednesday afternoon, a protest procession organized by the Singra Upazila Branch of the National Farmers' Association circled the main road of the city. After the procession, a protest rally was held at the open stage of the upazila premises.

Mizanur Rahman Mizan, the relief and research secretary of the central committee of the National Farmers' Association, president of Natore District Farmers' Association and former chairman of Singra Upazila Parishad, addressed the gathering as the chief guest, chaired by Upazila Farmers' Association President Azahar Ali and moderated by General Secretary Rustam Ali.

He highlighted the eight main crises and demanded immediate solutions, including ensuring fair prices for farmers' rice, stopping unbearable load shedding and corruption in electricity, taking effective measures to prevent theft of transformers and motors used for irrigation by farmers, resolving the oil, diesel and octane crisis and stopping black marketing, stopping the artificial crisis of gas cylinders and charging excessive prices, appointing specialist doctors and supplying adequate medicines to hospitals to prevent the extreme deterioration of the medical system, and preventing the uncontrolled rise in commodity prices.

In his speech as the chief guest, Mizanur Rahman Mizan said, "The farmers' backs are against the wall. Today, farmers are not getting the price of their hard-earned crops, while the prices of agricultural inputs are skyrocketing. There is no electricity, and there is a black market for fertilizers and oil. Farmers' motors and transformers are being stolen, but there is no remedy. The common people are not getting the desired services by going to hospitals."

Leaders of the National Farmers' Association and common people from various unions in the upazila participated in the rally.

At the end of the rally, the leaders submitted a memorandum containing 8-point demands to the Prime Minister through the Upazila Executive Officer.
