Promote Sports to combat drug abuse among youth: Adv Zainul Abedin MP

The final match of the Charity Football Tournament-2026, organised by Swakolpo Samaj Kalyan Sangstha to raise funds for the treatment of ailing Abdul Latif, was held in Ashulia, Savar.
The final between Dhamsona Union and Ashulia Union ended in a 1-1 draw in regulation time. As both teams scored an equal number of goals in the tiebreaker, they were jointly declared champions.
The final was held on Friday at the playground of Gajirchot Akbar Mondol School and College in Ashulia.
The programme was conducted by Dewan Masudur Rahman, General Secretary of Swakolpo Samaj Kalyan Sangstha and Joint Convener of Dhaka District Olama Dal. Advocate Zainul Abedin, MP, BNP Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Home Affairs, attended as the chief guest. Dhaka-19 MP Dr Dewan Md Saluddin Babu presided over the event. Md Saiful Islam, UNO, Savar was present as a special guest.
Addressing the programme, Chief Guest Advocate Zainul Abedin thanked the organisers for arranging such a humanitarian event through sports. He said the younger generation should be encouraged to participate in sports to keep them away from drugs. He also assured the organisers of necessary support for developing local playgrounds.
Among others, former Savar Upazila Vice Chairman Dewan Md Moinuddin Biplob, Ashulia Thana BNP General Secretary and Dhamsona Union chairman candidate Alhaj Abdul Gafur Mia, Dhaka District North Chhatra Dal President Tamiz Uddin, noted theatre personality A R Montu, Swakolpo Samaj Kalyan Sangstha President Md Abul Hossain Munshi and Treasurer Osman Gani were present.
At the end of the event, a donation of Tk 10 lakh was handed over to ailing Abdul Latif for his treatment by event president and Dhaka-19 MP Dr Dewan Md Saluddin Babu and the organisation's President Md Abul Hossain Munshi.
