Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said the 13th parliamentary elections will be held either in December this year or March 2026, noting that the final decision hinges on consensus among the country’s political parties.
He came up with the information during a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Monday.
About rumour of the resignation by Information Adviser Nahid Islam, who is reportedly going to helm a new party, Shafiqul said, "He hasn’t resigned yet. The decision regarding forming a new political party or any other matter will be entirely up to Nahid Islam's discretion. The government doesn’t want to comment on this."
He also mentioned that Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus during an advisory council meeting on Monday instructed all government offices to implement an e-filing system.
The press secretary added that it was decided to conduct third-party evaluations for all government projects.
