Police officers involved in the July Massacre know how to escape. That's why they are not getting caught in the net of information technology, said Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud.

He said this in response to a question from journalists regarding the non-arrest of the accused police officers involved in the July Massacre at a press briefing held at the conference room of the RPMP Commissioner's office on Wednesday afternoon.

RpMP Commissioner Abdul Mabud said, “The police's technical and intelligence investigation wing (LIC) has been established to deal with the cases of various people, including the families of martyrs after the July Massacre. This wing identifies the location of the accused with the help of information technology. We are trying to arrest the accused in these cases.”

He said, “Police officers who are accused are not being arrested. This allegation made by the martyr's family is correct. Because they (police officers) know how to escape. They also know how to catch the accused. That is why they are not getting trapped in the net of information technology.”

At that time, seeking the cooperation of journalists in arresting the accused policemen, he said, “Please give us information, wherever the accused are in the country, we will bring them under the law, In Sha Allah.”

Stating that this police officer himself has been a victim of discrimination in the past, he said, “If the change of heart had not happened on August 5 during the 24th movement, I would not have been able to come here today as the Police Commissioner. I was an Additional SP for the last 17 years and 18 years including one year of the interim government. My batch mates were commissioners in this metro. But I was an Additional SP.”

Abdul Mabud said, “18 years of my life were gone during that time. I will not get back the 18 years of my life and youth that have been lost. This is not only my personal loss, but also my family's loss.”

At a press briefing organized to mark the third month of assuming office as Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner, journalists were informed about the overall activities and achievements of the RpMP, including law and order maintenance, raids, rescues, arrests, and anti-drug activities.

Noting that 1,626 people have been arrested and a large amount of drugs and stolen goods have been recovered in the raids of the RPMP in the last three months, Mohammad Abdul Mabud said that the law and order situation in the metropolitan area has improved further due to continuous raids, intelligence activities, and public cooperation in controlling crime. He said that a total of 1,626 accused have been arrested in various raids in the last three months. Of these, 316 people are under warrant, 282 are drug dealers, 53 are thieves, 32 are in women and child abuse cases, 5 are in murder cases, 12 are members of banned organizations, and 926 are accused in other cases.

He said that a significant amount of drugs have been recovered in the anti-drug operation. The recovered drugs include 2,681 pieces of Yaba tablets, 47.2 grams of heroin, 20 kg 4 grams of marijuana, 158 bottles of Phensedyl/Escaf, 33.5 liters of distilled liquor, 48 pieces of Tapentadol tablets and 26 morphine injections. In addition, a truck with 16 maunds of stolen copper wires, 5 stolen auto-rickshaws and 8 stolen motorcycles have been recovered in the operation to prevent theft and robbery, he said. In addition, various types of goods used in various crimes and as important evidence, including gambling cards, mobile phones, stamps, checks, have been recovered.
