Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Abdul Awal Mintoo stated that Prime Minister Tariq Rahman’s upcoming visit to Feni on Thursday will address longstanding regional demands and accelerate development across the district.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, after inspecting the venue and inaugural sites in Parshuram and Fulgazi, Minister Mintoo highlighted the government's commitment to regional infrastructure, noting that the Prime Minister will officially inaugurate the Muhuri-Kahua flood control embankment project during his visit.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) recently approved the Tk 1,542.16 crore "Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage, and Irrigation Rehabilitation (Phase 1)" project. Set for completion by 2030, the project includes rehabilitating 67.92 km of embankments, protecting 11.73 km of riverbanks, re-excavating 83.50 km of rivers and reservoirs, and constructing 77 inlets to mitigate recurring erosion and flash flooding. The Muchapur regulator project has also received ECNEC approval, while a feasibility study for establishing a government medical college in Feni is currently underway at the Ministry of Health.

Feni-1 MP  Rafiqul Alam Maznu and Reserved Seat MP Rehana Akhtar Ranu confirmed that preparations at the venue are complete. The Prime Minister is scheduled to arrive at Parshuram at 12:30 PM on Thursday to launch the embankment project, distribute Family Cards and Farmer Cards, launch a 249 -KW solar panel installation, and address a public rally organized by Upazila BNP at Fulgazi Government Pilot High School ground. He will also visit his ancestral maternal home at Sreepur Mazumder Bari.

Feni Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mahbubul Karim, Superintendent of Police Pratyush Kumar Majumder, and local administration officials were present during the inspection.
