Peter Haas expresses concern over violent political speech against US embassy officials

US ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas has expressed concern over violent political speech against his embassy officials.
He expressed his concern during a meeting with Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at the secretariat on Wednesday.
After the meeting, the US ambassador said reporters that he has expressed deep concern over recent violent speech against the people in the US embassy.
"We are on no particular political party's side. We want free and fair elections conducted in a peaceful manner," Peter Haas said.
He called upon all sides to de-escalate, eschew violence and try to figure out a way to have dialogue without pre-conditions to improve the election atmosphere.
He said they delivered the same message to all political parties in Bangladesh, that the United States remains neutral ahead of the upcoming polls.
