People in Patuakhali–4 want to see Mosharraf Hossain in cabinet

Local leaders and people from various professions have said that the demand to see Alhaj ABM Mosharraf Hossain, widely known as a leader of the masses in the Patuakhali–4 (Kalapara–Rangabali) constituency, included in the cabinet is gaining momentum. They emphasize that strong representation at the central level is essential to accelerate development in this coastal region.
Representatives from different political and professional organizations have expressed support for seeing ABM Mosharraf Hossain appointed as a minister.
Upazila BNP President Haji Humayun Shikdar said, “Patuakhali–4 is a promising coastal region. With Payra Port, Kuakata tourism, and abundant fisheries resources, there is tremendous potential for development. Direct representation at the central level would make it easier to realize these opportunities.”
Businessman Suman Gazi, associated with Payra Port, said, “A new horizon in industry and trade is emerging around Payra Port. However, strong leadership is needed to enhance infrastructure development and policy support.”
Tushar Ahmed, President of Kuakata Press Club, said, “Kuakata has the potential to develop into an international-standard tourist destination. Coordinated initiatives are needed in road connectivity, hotel-motel zones, environmental protection, and security management.
Mizan Hawlader, a businessman at Mahipur Fishery Port and General Secretary of the Thana Jubo Dal, said, “Effective policies are needed to ensure alternative employment and financial assistance for fishermen during the hilsa conservation season. Security in the deep sea must also be strengthened.
He added, “River erosion, salinity, and unemployment are major challenges in coastal areas. For the sake of development, including competent leadership in the cabinet would help fulfill Kalapara Upazila’s development aspirations.”
Zahirul Ahmed, a leader of the 11-party alliance, echoed similar sentiments, stating, “Despite political differences, we are united on the question of overall development of the area. We believe that if he becomes a minister, the pace of coastal development will increase.”
However, political analysts note that cabinet appointments are entirely the prerogative of the party’s high command. While local popularity and organizational competence are important, national political equations, portfolio distribution, and strategic considerations also play significant roles.
Residents of this vulnerable coastal constituency have long demanded sustainable infrastructure, employment opportunities, disaster management, and secure livelihoods.
In this context, the issue of including ABM Mosharraf Hossain in the cabinet has now become a central topic of discussion across Patuakhali–4.
