Mohammad Younus Ali, Manikganj
On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the homebound passengers at Aricha and Paturia Ghats are not so busy.
Passenger pressure is normal after 9 am on Tuesday but it is very less till writing this report in the afternoon. Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia sea routes have enough ferry-launches, speedboats, boats etc. but the number of passengers is less.
It can be seen that the number of motorcycle riders on this route is significant. Most of them go to Kazirhat and Daulatdia. Although there were isolated complaints of overcharging passenger buses on the Gabtali-Aricha-Paturia route, the police could not identify them.
Passengers risk crossing the Kazirhat route by boat from Aricha. BIWTC Aricha Sector DGM Shah Md. Khaled Newaz said that 21 small and big ferry vehicles of the fleet are deployed at the crossing on both routes. Round-the-clock ticket collection and security arrangements have been made at the ferry wharf for the smooth passage of passengers and vehicles.
According to the police, on the occasion of Eid, strict security and comprehensive measures have been taken at the homebound passenger crossing. Ferry connections from Paturia and Aricha have been given utmost importance to transport vehicles and passengers.
A strict check is kept on carrying a certain number of passengers on launches and speedboats. Adequate number of police, Ansar and other security forces have been deployed at both the Ghats.
