Free seed, fertilizer distribution program inaugurated in Pirgachha

Free seed and chemical fertilizer distribution program has been inaugurated among small and marginal farmers in Pirgachha, Rangpur, for the implementation of the Aman paddy incentive program in the fiscal year 2024-25. UNO Nazmul Haque Sumon inaugurated the incentive distribution program at the Upazila Parishad Old Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
With Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Rafiqul Islam in the chair and moderated by Deputy Assistant Plant Protection Officer Abdul Latif, UP Chairman Mostafizur Rahman Reza, Bazlur Rashid Mukul, Nur Alam Mia, Abdus Salam Azad Jewel, Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Sanjay Kumar Sarkar and Mukit Bin Liaqat, along with officials and farmers from various blocks, were present as special guests. Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Rafiqul Islam said that the Upazila Agriculture Office is working under this program to increase the cultivation and production of improved Ufshi variety of rice in the Aman season along with the cultivation of other crops. Under the implementation of the Upazila Agriculture Extension Department, we have distributed five kg of rice seeds, 10 kg of DFP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer free of cost among 3,900 marginal farmers.
The farmers present at the discussion meeting praised the government's initiative and said that this incentive will give new impetus to their Ufshi variety of rice production. They also expressed hope that more farmers would be able to benefit from such programs in the future.
