At Gafargaon in Mymensingh, a wonderful creation of nature across the horizon, the field full of yellow mustard trees will make anyone's heart flutter. Everyone's eyes will be stuck. The yellow mustard flowers of the mustard fields of the upazila are swaying in the wind. It seems to be welcoming road travelers and passers-by. And everyone including pedestrians is impressed by it.

The yellow beauty of the mustard flower not only fascinates the people but also the grain of Bengal and brings a smile to the farmer's face. According to Gafargaon Agriculture Office sources, this time the target of mustard cultivation is 1725 hectares. However, 1550 hectares of land has been cultivated. Most of them have been planted in Tangab and Charalgi unions of the upazila.

In the upazila, the fields of Digantjora crops are covered with yellow mustard flowers. Yellow mustard flowers are swaying in the cold winter wind. Just as the field is buzzing with the hum of bees in the yellow kingdom of mustard flowers, so the farmer's eyes are smiling at the harvest of bumper crops. It is as if the farmer is dreaming in the yellow smile of mustard.

Gafargaon upazila agriculture officer agriculturist Rakib Al Rana said that mustard has been planted in 15 unions including char area in Gafargaon upazila this season.

He also said that if mustard is produced, the fertility of the land increases, urea fertilizer is saved, and honey can be produced from mustard fields. The demand for edible oil increases, besides, mustard seeds benefit organic fertilizers and cattle fodder.

This yellow colored flower has four petals. A mustard plant produces approximately 200 flowers in its lifetime, and a plant is capable of producing 1,000 seeds. During the winter months of December-January, the eye-popping mustard fields can be seen in the fields and pastures of the villages.
