Padma Bridge daily toll collection crosses Tk2 cr: Minister

The daily toll collection from vehicles on the Padma Bridge has exceeded Tk2 crore, Road Transport and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader said on Tuesday.
So far, a total of Tk12.52 crore has been collected from the bridge, the minister said at a press conference at the Setu Bhaban in Dhaka.
The bridge, the longest in the country, was opened to the public a day after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated it on June 25, 2022.
The minister said that the toll collected at the Bangabandhu Tunnel in Chattogram is comparatively lower.
A total of Tk1.072 crore has been collected from the tunnel since it was inaugurated on 28 October 2023.
"The toll collection is slightly below the target because the roads leading out of the tunnel have not been expanded yet," the minister said.
The minister also informed the Dhaka Elevated Expressway is projected to be completed by the end of the upcoming year, and the BRT Project is scheduled to conclude by June of this year.
He also said the Dhaka Elevated Expressway and the Dhaka-Ashulia Elevated Expressway stand as two priority projects for the government.
