Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Saching Prue, MP, on Wednesday, called for building planned, sustainable, safe, and eco-friendly tourism infrastructure to harness the vast potential of Bangladesh's tourism sector.
The Minister made the call while addressing as the chief guest at a reception ceremony organized by the 'Bandarban Byabashayi Oikya Parishad' at the Sadar Upazila Conference Hall in Bandarban Hill District.
Highlighting the tourism potential of the hill region, the CHT Minister stated that local communities must be directly involved in the process so that the primary benefits of tourism reach them. He emphasized effective coordination among relevant government entities—including the CHT Development Board, the three Hill District Councils, LGED, and related ministries—to protect the environment and maintain sustainable tourism standards.
Expressing his intention to develop Bandarban as a model tourism city, CHT Minister Saching Prue said, "Our main objective is to build a clean and tourism-friendly Bandarban city. Innumerable tourists from home and abroad come to enjoy the beauty of this town.
Presided over by Bandarban Byabashayi Oikya Parishad President Hafez Md. Azizul Hoque, the reception meeting was also addressed by Special Guests including Bandarban Deputy Commissioner Md. Saniul Ferdous, Bandarban Pourashava Administrator S M Monjurul Hoque, and Bandarban Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Marufa Sultana Khan Hira.
