An orientation workshop was held in Barguna under the Climate Resilient Infrastructure Mainstreaming Project (CRIMP) aimed at tackling climate change risks and developing disaster-resilient infrastructure.

The workshop, titled "Orientation for Each Awarded Package (W-02 & W-03) under Barguna District," took place last Thursday at the Kamrul Islam Siddique Auditorium of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) in Barguna.

Jointly funded by the Government of Bangladesh, the Green Climate Fund (GCF), German Cooperation, and KfW, the workshop was attended by CRIMP Project Director Md. Abdul Khaleque as the chief guest.

Chaired by LGED Barguna Executive Engineer Md. Mehedi Hasan Khan, the event featured speeches by Barishal Divisional Additional Chief Engineer's Office Executive Engineer Md. Rahmat-e-Khuda, CRIMP Project Executive Engineer Mehmud Morshed Ul Amin, local and foreign experts, upazila engineers, consultants, and representatives of contracting firms.

Participants were informed during the workshop that the project will construct 15 new cyclone shelters, rehabilitate six existing cyclone shelters, and build approximately 30 kilometers of uniblock and bituminous roads across Barguna district. Contractors were also provided with necessary guidelines to ensure implementation strictly follows KfW guidelines and approved design standards.

LGED Barguna Executive Engineer Md. Mehedi Hasan Khan stated that the cyclone shelters and communication infrastructure built under the project will ensure disaster-time safety while playing a vital role in education and public service. He emphasized maintaining high quality and completing the work within the stipulated timeframe.

CRIMP Project Director Md. Abdul Khaleque noted that building sustainable and disaster-resilient infrastructure in coastal regions is essential to combating the impacts of climate change. Send
