Miscreants hacked and killed an auto driver named Akash Mia (25) after entering his house in Monohardi, Narsingdi. The incident took place on Saturday morning in Kirtibasadi village of Daulatpur union of the upazila. The family members could not be sure about the reason and who committed the murder.

The deceased, Akash, was the son of farmer Aftab Uddin of Kirtibasadi village in Daulatpur union of Monohardi upazila. Akash used to drive a battery-powered auto-rickshaw in the area.

Aftab Uddin, the father of the deceased Akash, said, "A cow used to live on one side of a room in our house and Akash on the other side. In the morning, I woke up and went to the front of the house and called out to get the cow out. Akash let the cow out in his sleepy eyes and fell asleep again. At that time, I went to the field with the cow. And Akash's mother went to her sister's house. When we came home around 9 am, we saw that the door of the room was open and there was a sound of groaning coming from inside. Later, we ran to the house and saw that Akash's right eye had been cut above his right eye and his head was bleeding. Akash was only groaning and could not say anything. Later, with the help of local people, he died on the way to the Monohardi Upazila Health Complex.

Upon receiving the information, the police of Monohardi Police Station went to the spot, recovered his body, prepared an autopsy report and sent it to the morgue of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital.

Sub-inspector Abed Ali of Monohardi Police Station said, "The miscreants killed the young man by hacking him with a sharp weapon. However, it is not known who or what caused the murder. The police investigation is ongoing, and the mystery of the murder will come out soon."
