A youth named Muslim (35) was allegedly hacked to death in an arbitration meeting for online gambling in Tangail's Bhuyapur. 5/6 people including Muslim's father and uncle were seriously injured in this incident.

This shocking incident took place on Friday (October 4) evening in Matikata Brijpar area of Nikrail Union of the upazila.

Police immediately arrested a person named Halim from the spot. The deceased Muslim is the son of Zoher, a resident of Nikrail village.

According to the neighbors, a dispute started with Rakib and a nephew of Sujan from the same village over the money of Nayan, the owner of online gambling. To resolve the dispute, an arbitration meeting was held at Matikata Brijpar on the initiative of local Matabbars on Friday evening. In the meeting, Muslim was explaining the matter in detail to the Matabbars as they did not understand the issue of online gambling through mobile.

Then Muslim started arguing with Rakib and Sujan's nephew. At one point in the heated situation, Rakib and Sujan called their partners for an arbitration meeting. Later they indiscriminately cut and injured Muslim with sharp weapons. When Muslim's relatives tried to stop them, they were also attacked.

Locals quickly rescued the injured and took them to the hospital, where Muslim died due to excessive bleeding.

Amjat Hossain, a member of the Nikrail Union Parishad, said, "A Muslim was hacked to death during an argument over online gambling. The injured have been sent to the hospital, the police are at the scene."

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhuyapur police station AKM Rezaul Karim confirmed the truth of the incident and said that the murder took place due to a previous dispute. Halim involved in the incident has been arrested and efforts are on to arrest the other accused.
