Obaidul Haque, the Officer-In-Charge of Sakhipur in Shariatpur has received the award for the best OC in the district.

On Sunday (April 20) morning, the best OC  award was presented to  Obaidul Haque at the monthly welfare meeting presided over by Superintendent of Police Md. Nazrul Islam at the District Police Lines.

The Superintendent of Police presented him with this award for his significant contribution to the law and order situation in the month of March-2025, including recovering drugs and ensuring public safety.

It is learnt  that the Sakhipur police station area was known for terrorism, drugs, eve-teasing, fights, altercations, and riots due to its char region.

Since Obaidul Haque joined as OC, the law and order situation has started to improve.

As per the instructions of Shariatpur Police Superintendent Nazrul Islam, a combing operation was carried out and the listed terrorists and drug dealers were arrested in stages. Drugs worth several lakhs of taka were recovered. Eve teasing activities were also stopped.

Every week, he exchanged views on the problems of the common people and the issues of the law and order forces with people of different classes and professions, including public representatives, journalists, teachers, politicians, community policing leaders. He said that beat policing activities would continue in 9 unions of Sakhipur police station in order to provide services to the general public as a police officer, and a 15-member community policing ward committee was formed.

However, while fulfilling these humanitarian responsibilities, OC Obaidul Haque did not forget about his professional responsibilities. He is vigilant in stopping various illegal activities in the area. In addition to fulfilling his humanitarian responsibilities, he is always ready to suppress any crime, maintain law and order and implement government instructions. The police are not rulers, not exploiters; the police are servants of the people.  All the police members in the entire Sakhipur police station are now inspired by this mantra. Therefore, the harassment of people by the police has reduced.

OC Md. Obaidul Haque said, we are working according to the instructions of our SP sir, and this achievement is not my only achievement, but the achievement of all the officers and forces of the police station. The journalists here have also cooperated with me the most, because of which today I have received the best award certificate of the district. 

He also said, I have come to serve you as the OC of Sakhipur police station, I have always tried so that the people do not come to the police station and get fair justice.
