
Nishu from Munshiganj secures 2nd position nationwide on Labour Day Essay Competition

Nusrat Jahan Nishu, a student from Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj, has secured second place at the national level in an essay writing competition organized on the occasion of Labor Day. The competition was held among university-level participants across the country.
The award ceremony took place on Thursday, May 1st at 11 a.m. at the China Friendship Conference Center in Dhaka. The topic of the essay was centered on “International Workers' Day and National Occupational Health and Safety Day.” Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus handed out the prizes to the winners during the event.
Nishu received an honorary crest, a national certificate, a cheque worth 20,000 taka, and a gift package. She is the second of two daughters of Abul Kashem Bepari and Moyna Akter Duli, residents of Bashbari village in Tongibari upazila.
She completed her SSC from Tongibari Pilot Girls’ High School and her HSC from President Professor Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed Residential Model School and College. Currently, she is pursuing her studies in the Department of Law at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University in Gopalganj.
When asked for a comment, Nishu said, “I tried my best. In the future, I want to work to improve the quality of education in my village and upazila.”
Present at the event were Brigadier General (Retd.) Dr. M. Sakhawat Hossain, Advisor to the Ministry of Labor and Employment; A.H.M. Shafiquzzaman, Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment; and Sultan Uddin Ahmed, Head of the Labor Reform Commission, among others.
