Ninth-grader hacked to death by classmates in Natore

Natore Correspondent

A student of class nine was hacked to death by some miscreants including two of his school classmates at a derelict building in Natore district on Thursday, in another vicious example of modern-era juvenile delinquency.

Md Himel Hossain, 15, went to the worn-out building in his village on Thursday afternoon after his classmate Partha asked him to go there over the phone. When contacting Himel afterwards, his relatives found his phone dead, according to Maniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Naldanga police station in Natore.

As the night set in, his anxious family members started searching for him in nearby areas. They informed Naldanga police station about the missing incident, after failing to locate the teenager anywhere.

In its operation, police first tracked the phone number of Partha. After quizzing Partha at the police station, officers learnt of the victim’s whereabouts and consequently recovered the dead body from a worn-out building on Friday midnight.

Police later arrested Mehedi, another classmate of the deceased, along with two more suspected miscreants: Sujon and Shimul. The motive behind the killing would be learnt soon, officers hoped.

There were marks of injuries with sharp weapons on Himel’s head, neck and parts of the torso, police found in a preliminary probe. The head sustained a concussion while other injuries were caused through repeated stabbings, police suspect. A polythene was also found inside the mouth of the victim.

The victim was a student of Patul-Hapania School and College in Naldanga upazila, Natore.
