At the beginning of the meeting, the State Minister welcomed the New Zealand delegation led by the High Commissioner to the Ministry of Food.
During the meeting, various aspects of further expanding the existing economic and trade relations between Bangladesh and New Zealand, increasing mutual cooperation in food security, food management and other matters were discussed.
The State Minister for Food informed the delegation about the various activities taken by the government to ensure food security in Bangladesh.
He said that New Zealand may consider increasing the import of ready-made garments, medicines, leather and leather products from Bangladesh. He mentioned that the quality of Bangladeshi products in these sectors and their competitiveness in the international market have significantly increased, which can play an important role in expanding bilateral trade.
At this time, the New Zealand High Commissioner thanked the State Minister and highly appreciated the success of the government in the socio-economic development and food management of Bangladesh.
He said that Bangladesh and New Zealand have long-standing strong and friendly bilateral relations.
New Zealand Council (Agriculture) Melanie Phillips, Honorary Council Shamsul Alam Mallick, Food Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana and senior officials of the Ministry of Food were present during the meeting.
