New books not yet reach in Sherpur

Sherpur (Bogura) correspondent

In Sherpur Upazila of Bogura, almost a month and a half of the new year has passed, but the new books are not available in schools and Madrasas.

As a result, students are facing problems because they cannot study at home. As a result students are losing interest in attending classes. Slowly starting to become classless.

The students of Sherua Adarsh High School and Sherpur Shahidiya Kamil Madrasa went to the ground and said that our textbooks have started a new curriculum. So it is a little difficult to understand at first. But later maybe this will not be a problem.

Students said, new curriculum new books. We haven't received all the books yet. So our studies are getting disrupted. Earlier there was homework but now there is less homework.

The names of the books that I had heard before in sixth grade, those books have also changed. I got a new name in the new class. Along with Bengali, English, life and livelihood, digital technology has come.

These new books are started from us. But the problem is that we still haven't got all the books. After a month of January, almost ten days have passed! We didn't get the book because it hasn't come to school yet.

The new curriculum has completely changed since our time. We are taking part in the new curriculum in the sixth grade. Lima and Zakaria, a 7th grade student of Sherua Adarsh High School, said that even though we are taught using multimedia method, education is being disrupted because of not being able to read books at home. Farzana Rahman and Mahfuzul Hasan, 7th class students of Sherpur Shahidiya Kamil Madrasa, said that they have not received a single book so far. In class teachers are explaining new books to us orally. But they are teaching us with old books.

According to the related sources, most of the books were distributed among the students on the first day of other years. However, it was not possible to distribute the books of all classes on the first day of this year. At secondary level, 6th class Maths, Islamic Religion Education, Hinduism Education, History and Social Science. Class 7 Bengali, English, Mathematics, History and Social Science, Science, Islam and Moral Education, Hinduism and Moral Education, Bengali Grammar and Structure, Anandpath, English Grammar, Arts and Crafts, Agricultural Education. 8th class 9th class books not distributed due to non-arrival of some subjects. Besides, the Madrasa did not receive a single book of 7th class, and 3 books of science category in 9th class, not a single book of general category, could not be distributed by the concerned authorities.

Principal of Sherpur Shaheedia Kamil Madrasa, Md. Hafizur Rahman said that we have not received any books of 7th class and only 3 books of 8th and 9th class have been distributed. The students who have got partial books are searching for books every day, but I am not able to give them because the books are not available, besides, there is disruption in the classes as well as the classes are empty of students.

Nurul Islam, head teacher of Sherua Adarsh High School, said that it is difficult for our students to get some books of 6th and 7th class to focus their attention on reading and writing. Moreover, even though we are teaching the students through multimedia method, education is being disrupted if they are not able to read books at home.

Upazila Education Ifficer Najmul Haque said, books were not given to us from Dhaka, that's why we could not reach the students but he also said that this problem will be solved soon.
