Netrakona municipality ex-mayor Nazrul Islam on 3-day remand

A court here today placed former mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan on three-day remand in a case lodged over vandalizing and torching Netrkona BNP office during the anti-discrimination student movement.
The case was filed with Netrakona Model Police Station on September 5.
Acting Chief Judicial Magistrate Kamal Hussain passed the order as police produced Nazrul Islam before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand in the case, additional superintendent of police, Netrakona Lutfur Rahman said.
Nazrul Islam, also the vice president of Netrakona district Awami League, was detained by immigration police at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) yesterday.
