Nazrul University Earth Club giving trees, books in exchange of plastic

Nazrul University Correspondent

Nazrul University Earth Club is leading an initiative where exchanging one kilogram of plastic allows individuals to receive beloved plants and books.

The responsibility of promoting environmental conservation and recycling plastic rests on the shoulders of university students.

On Thursday , the Green Turning Project, organized by the Economics Club of Kazi Nazrul Islam National University, unfolded. Members of the club gathered at the Nazrul Bhashkar Prangan with the Green Turning booth. They aim to reduce plastic waste and contribute to the campus's greenery. Alongside planting trees, the exchange program promotes awareness among students about environmental protection.

The initiative received commendation from Sanjoy Kumar Mukherjee, the Proctor of Nazrul University, who emphasized the need for more such programs by students. He urged everyone to actively participate in creating a green campus and a healthier planet through initiatives like plastic recycling, tree planting, and awareness campaigns.

Notably, in 2023, Bangladesh Youth Environmental Initiative initiated its journey as a sub-organization of Kazi Nazrul Islam University Economics Club. Working towards conserving the environment and the earth, the club, under the current leadership of Tasarif Mallik from the Population Science department and Sanzida Aishi from the Law and Justice department, actively engages in various projects.
