Narottampur UP Chairman AKM Siraj Ullah arrested in Chittagong

Police have arrested Narottampur Union Chairman AKM Siraj Ullah (60) in Kabirhat Upazila of Noakhali.

Later, he was produced before the District Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Thursday afternoon. Earlier, Kabirhat Police arrested him from Chittagong on Wednesday night.

The arrested Siraj Ullah is the son of the deceased Tajul Islam of Jadavpur village in Narottampur Union. He is the former president of the union Awami League and the brother-in-law of former mayor of Basurhat Municipality Abdul Quader Mirza.

It is learned that Siraj went into hiding on August 5. Later, he changed his place at different times and stayed in different places. The police arrested him based on a secret tip-off. Kabirhat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shaheen Mia confirmed the matter and said that Siraj Ullah has four cases against him, including one for murder.

In addition, there were arrest warrants in three other cases. When the police arrested him based on a secret tip-off and presented him in court, the judge ordered him to be sent to jail.
