Metro rail service temporarily halted at several stations amid ‘shutdown’

Staff Correspondent

The metro rail service in Dhaka has been partially halted from Agargaon to Pallabi amid the quota protesters' 'shutdown programme'.

Train service from Motijheel to Uttara is still operational.

"To ensure security of passengers, metro rail service at Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara and Shewrapara stations has been halted temporarily from 2:25 pm," the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd wrote on its Facebook page.

"However, train service is running normally from Uttara North to Pallabi and from Motijheel to Agargaon. Authorities will notify immediately when the closed stations resume service," it wrote.

MRT Police Superintendent Mahmud Khan said the metro rail will resume operation when the current situation goes back to normal.

After visiting Pallabi and Mirpur-10, bdnews24.com Staff Correspondent Sabikun Nahar said some entry points to Pallabi Station were closed, causing difficulties for passengers.
