Massive fire breaks out at Gopaldi Bazar in N’ganj

A massive fire broke out early Wednesday at the CNG Potyy in Gopaldi Market, Araihazar, Narayanganj. Responding swiftly, two units each from the Madhabdi and Araihazar Fire Service and Civil Defense worked tirelessly for about two hours to bring the blaze under control.
The fire caused significant damage, partially destroying Saidul Textile, Jalil Textile, and Alamgir Textile. Two workshops owned by Ripon and Fazlong, a cabinet-making factory run by Sunil, and a motor workshop were completely reduced to ashes. Additionally, five people sustained injuries and have been given primary medical treatment.
Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector Hasan Madbor of the Gopaldi Investigation Center stated that the extent of the damage would be assessed through further investigation. However, local business owners estimate losses to be worth several crores of taka.
In response to the incident, Araihazar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Sajjat Hossain and Gopaldi Municipality Administrator and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shahnaz Parveen Bithi visited the scene.
Md. Hadiul, an officer at the Madhabdi Fire Service, mentioned that the fire began with a loud explosion. The cause whether it was a gas-related incident or an electrical short circuit will be determined through further investigation. The fire service team acted promptly to control the fire as soon as they received the report.
Araihazar UNO Sajjat Hossain assured that they would coordinate with the District Commissioner to provide necessary assistance to those affected by the disaster.
