
Mahmud Koli to compete for president from Nipun’s panel

Mahmud Koli, a prominent actor in the golden era of Bangladeshi cinema, will compete for the post of president from Nipun Akter’s panel for the upcoming Bangladesh Film Artistes Association (BFAA) election. BFAA’s General Secretary Nipun announced it on Sunday.
The decision came after the announcement of former president Ilias Kanchan, who declared not to participate in the upcoming election. The 2024-2025 fiscal years’ election is stated to be held on 27 April.
Earlier, Mahmud Koli served as President and general secretary of BFAA for two terms. After a long break, he is going to take part in the association’s elections.
In 1991, he was elected the general secretary of the association, alongside actor Ahmed Sharif as president. After that, he was elected from the same panel and served as general secretary from 1995-1997. However, in the following year, he ran for the post of president with a new panel along with actor Mizu Ahmed. Mahmud Koli was elected president for two consecutive terms from 1997 to 2002.
Mahmud Koli is an iconic actor in the 80’s and 90’s. He debuted in the film “Mastan” in 1975. His notable films include “Toofan”, “Dhoni Gareeb”, “Moti Mahal”, “Apon Ghar”, “Love in Singapore”, “Golmaal”, “Shidur Niona Muchhe”, “Shashur Bari”, “Griho Bibad”, “Nepali Meye”, and “Superstar”.
