M Saifur Rahman's 97th birth anniversary observed in Moulvibazar

A milad mahfil, special prayers, and food distribution program among orphans were organized in Moulvibazar on Tuesday to mark the 97th birth anniversary of former Finance and Planning Minister late M Saifur Rahman.
Organized by the M Saifur Rahman Smriti Parishad, the day's observance began with a grave visit (ziyarat) and prayers at the late leader's final resting place in Baharmardan village under Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila, followed by a milad, doa mahfil, and lunch distribution for orphans at the Moulvibazar Jamea Deenia Madrasa after Zohr prayers.
President of M Saifur Rahman Smriti Parishad Syed Taufiq Ahmed, General Secretary and Public Prosecutor (PP) of Moulvibazar District and Sessions Judge Court Advocate Dr. Abdul Motin Chowdhury, Treasurer Syed Humayun Ali Shaheen, Publicity and Publication Secretary journalist M. Imad Ud Din, and Smriti Parishad members Alhaj M A Mukit, Moulvi Wali Siddiqui, and Baksi Misbah Ur Rahman were present among others during the events.
Principal of Moulvibazar Jamea Deenia Madrasa and Khatib of Moulvibazar Stand Mosque Hafez Maulana Syed Majdud Ahmed Rafid, alongside Senior Pesh Imam of the District Jame Mosque Hafez Maulana Rumman Ahmed Chowdhury, conducted the grave visit and religious proceedings.
Born on October 6, 1931, in Baharmardan, Moulvibazar, M Saifur Rahman introduced the Value Added Tax (VAT) system in Bangladesh and served as finance minister, presenting the national budget 12 times in parliament. He passed away in a road accident on September 5, 2009.
