Due to the slow pace of construction of bridge and road widening on Gobindpur-Galimpur branch canal of Ichamati River in Churain Union of Nawabganj Upazila of Dhaka-1 Constituency, dissatisfaction has arisen among the locals.

In this incident, on Monday morning, the locals wanted to take out a protest march and human chain, local UP chairman Abdul Jalil Bepari, Chudain Union A'League President Abdul Baset Mia, Chudain Union A'League former president Abul Hossain Moral, former secretary Sabbir Hossain Badal intervened and the situation calmed down.

Chudain UP Chairman Abdul Jalil Bepari said that Mr. Salman Fazlur Rahman, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Private Industry and Investment and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-1 Constituency, is working on the development of Meghula-Jalalpur in Dohar Upazila, Gobindpur-Tikarpur-Churain-Benukhali road in Nawabganj with the aim of developing and widening the roads in his constituency. As a result, the road and public road (Munshiganj) department took responsibility for the construction of a total of five bridges and road widening on the Gobindpur road in Nawabganj through Ariyal Bill of Dohar. Under the Department of Roads and Public Ways, the estimated expenditure is about 36 crores in 3 packages. Although the work started in 2023, due to the negligence of the contractor, 60% of the work has not been completed yet. As a result, the local people are suffering from the traffic in this area. They have been suffering for a long time and have caused anger among the local people.

Chudain Union Awami League president, brave freedom fighter Abdul Baset Miah, said that this bridge was built due to the irregularity and wrong design of the contractor's work. Besides, they started widening the road without removing the temporary shops on the approach road on both sides of the bridge. The road has become fifty meters wide on both sides. Although the matter was told repeatedly to the contractor, they did not pay attention. As a result, the traffic is stopped in this situation. We have informed the upazila administration and road authorities.

In this regard, Sabbir Hossain Badal, former A-League secretary of Chudain Union, said, "We are united in implementing the election promise of Mr. Salman Fazlur Rahman, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Private Industries and Investments and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-1 Constituency. Although the road widening work is made of RCC, the density is very low. Besides, the hills It has been built high and low.

There is a high possibility of accidents during the movement of vehicles on the road. We are united, no irregularities of the contracting organization will be accepted. In this regard, Sheikh Abdul Gaffar said that the design of the bridge was a little crooked during the construction. As a result, the approach road to Gobindpur has come down steeply. There is a possibility that the vehicle will lose control and fall on my building at any time in the future. I have repeatedly informed the contractor about this. They have not heard anything. Now they will waste the government's money by resorting to various tricks.

Amit Das, the engineer of M/s Sagar Builders, was asked about this matter. Later, he tried to contact him several times on his mobile phone, but it was not possible to contact him.

In this regard, Dewan Abul Kashem Mohammad Nahin Reza, Executive Engineer of Roads and Public Roads (Munshiganj) Department, said that the development works of the constituency of Mr. Salman Fazlur Rahman, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Private Industries and Investments and Member of Parliament of Dhaka-1 Constituency, are being monitored with great importance. I got to know about the matter from the complaints of the locals and from the local UP chairman. An investigation team will be sent soon to confirm the work properly. I am hopeful that the road work will be completed smoothly.
