Housing and Public Works Ministet war wounded Freedom Fighter R.A.M.Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury MP said that like Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Sheikh Hasina is sympathetic to poor people.

He made this remarks on Sunday while addressing the distribution of Eid gifts among poor families on behalf of Brahmanbaria District Association, Dhaka as Chief Guest.

Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Parishad distributed Eid materials on behalf of 'Brahmanbaria District Association Dhaka'.

District Awami League Senior Vice President Md Helal Uddin, Vice President Haji Md Helal Uddin, Acting General Secretary Mahbubul Bari Chowdhury Montu, Upazila Acting Chairman Advocate Lokman Hossain were present as special guests in the event. Brahmanbaria Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Salim Sheikh presided over the ceremony.

On the occasion, the minister said that the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the party leaders to help the poor people of the area instead of holding an iftar party. That's why we have taken the initiative to distribute Eid materials among you with that money instead of having an iftar party.

He said, we who are rich waste a lot in the name of iftar party but the poor people of the society cannot live well, we should bring them into our thoughts.

The Prime Minister knows this, because his father, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was sympathetic to the poor, Sheikh Hasina was also sympathetic to the poor. That is why she instructed us to come forward to help the poor people. But BNP leaders and activists are not liking this direction towards public welfare. That is why they are spreading propaganda against us. You will be careful about this.

The minister also commented that BNP leaders are having Iftar parties with foreigners in five star hotels without thinking about the people. Earlier at 10 am, the minister distributed sarees, lungis and Eid clothes for children among the inmates of Brahmanbaria District Jail.

Deputy Commissioner Md. Habibur Rahman, Jail Superintendent Md. Shahidul Islam, Jail Inspector Advocate Saiduzzaman Arif and others were present.

After that, at the personal initiative of Minister Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury and Professor Fahima Khatun, Eid clothes were distributed among the children of Shishu Nibas in the district.

At 3 pm, the Minister distributed Eid items among night watchmen and underprivileged people on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr organized by SAARC Human Rights Foundation, Brahmanbaria District Branch at Brahmanbaria District Shilpakala Academy.
