The telecom regulator has revoked licenses/registration certificates of 334 internet service providers (ISP), call centers and IP (internet protocol) telephony companies.
To this end, a notification was issued by MA Taleb Hossain, Director at Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
The notice said that the order to repeal these licenses has been issued with the approval of the appropriate authorities.
The BTRC has taken this decision as these companies didn't apply for renewal of their licenses or registration certificates, and simultaneously the license period has also expired.
Conducting any activities with these companies is a punishable offense under the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Act-2001, said the notice.
The companies have been asked to submit the original license certificates to the BTRC and pay any outstanding dues, if any, within 30 days.
