Large size ' Katal ' in hilsa net, within moments, auction price goes to Tk 35, 000 in Chandpur

Fishermen are very happy to get katal fish weighing 8 to 10 kg. On November 5, a fisherman named Ismail caught four large cuttlefish in the hilsa net in Tarpurchandi area near Raksha Dam in Chandpur city. At the big station fish ghat, the eager crowd thronged to take a look at the cut fish. Within moments, the auction went up to 35 thousand taka. A katal weighing 9 kg is sold for 8 thousand taka.
Fisherman Yusuf Gungashi said that on Sunday morning, the fishermen of the ghat found nets for catching hilsa in the Meghna river. In their nets, four separate cuttlefish of huge size were caught.
Chandpur District Fisheries Officer Golam Mehdi Hasan said that this year, as the hilsa campaign was successful, sometimes different kinds of big fish are being caught in the fishermen's nets.
Fisherman Ismail said that every year after the 22-day hilsa conservation campaign in the river, Pangash, Id, Rui, Katal and Rida fish are being caught in their nets. This time was no exception. In addition to hilsa, several pangas, ai fish and river cuttlefish were also found in the Meghna river of Chandpur Sadar upazila.
Haji Abul Khair Gazi of Matsya Arat said that these fish are bought competitively by big fishermen when they come to the ghat. The buyers of these fishes are usually less. To sell this fish to common buyers, it has to be cut and sold. Or it is sold to the industrialists of different places including Dhaka.
