Langolbandh facing multiple problems : Urgent steps needed
Md Abdul Alim, Shailkupa (Jhenaidah)
Langolbandh, a densely populated area, is facing a multitude of critical issues that demand immediate attention and intervention.
Known as a Covid-19 red zone and a habitat for the dangerous Russel viper snakes. Langolbandh is no stranger to crises. The community is regularly beset by floods that result in tragic drownings and suffers from frequent fires that devastate homes and businesses.
The instability in Langolbandh is compounded by a significant lack of essential services. The area is without a government hospital or clinic, meaning that residents have limited access to necessary healthcare. The absence of a fire service station leaves the community vulnerable to uncontrollable fires.
Moreover, there is no diving team available for emergency rescues during the frequent floods. Educational opportunities in Langolbandh are also lacking, with no honors-level institutions available to the local youth. This gap hinders the community’s educational advancement and limits future opportunities for its young residents.
These issues cannot resolve themselves; they require structured governance and municipal oversight. The establishment of a municipality (pouroshova) in Langolbandh could be the solution.
A municipality would facilitate the implementation of essential services such as healthcare facilities, fire stations, and rescue teams. It would also foster educational development by possibly introducing higher education institutions. The need for a municipality in Langolbandh is urgent and apparent.
By addressing these critical infrastructure and service gaps, Langolbandh can move towards a safer, healthier, and more prosperous future.
