At around 11:30 PM on Thursday (February 12), the Dhaka District Assistant Returning Officers declared the BNP-nominated candidate Khandakar Abu Ashfaq as the unofficial winner.

Dhaka—1 seat (Dohar—Nawabganj) was once known as an impregnable fortress of the BNP. Khandakar Abu Ashfaq, the winner with the "Sheaf of Paddy," has now succeeded in reclaiming that lost empire. Since Friday morning, he has been visiting every union in Dohar and Nawabganj to exchange greetings and share sweets with activists. During this time, Khandakar Abu Ashfaq promised everyone that he would transform the Dhaka—1 constituency (Dohar and Nawabganj) through extensive "development" activities in his elected area.
