Jubo Dal leader dies during BNP rally in Hatiya

A local Jubo Dal leader died while leading a rally in Hatiya upazila’s Char Chenga Bazar on Thursday evening.

The deceased Md. Omar Faruk, 35, was the general secretary of the Jubo Dal’s Sonadia Union Ward-8.

He suddenly collapsed during the rally and was rushed to Hatiya Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead.

Witnesses reported that Faruk was chanting slogans when he fell to the ground, with foam coming from his nose and mouth. His sudden death is believed to have been caused by a cardiac arrest, according to police.

Noakhali District BNP Secretary Advocate Abdur Rahman expressed sorrow over Faruk's death, praying for his soul and extending condolences to the bereaved family.

Hatiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge AKM Azmal Huda confirmed the matter.

No complaint has been lodged yet, he said, adding on family request no autopsy is being conducted.
