JU Nationalist Teachers’ Forum observes national revolution and solidarity day

Jahangirnagar University (JU) unit of Nationalist Teachers’ Forum (NTF) observed the ‘National Revolution and Solidarity Day’ on Friday with a prayer and discussion session.
The event was held around 4:30 pm after Asr prayers at the Bishmail Staff Quarter Mosque on university campus.
JU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan attended the programme as the chief guest.
Speaking at the programme, JU VC said, “The event of November 7 was rooted in the people’s aspiration to free the country from corruption and disorder that emerged after independence. Ziaur Rahman never sought power for himself.”
“Through the growth of the garment sector and remittance inflow, he laid the foundation for a sustainable economy which may be regarded as our ‘second independence.” he added.
NTF President Prof Md Shamsul Alam said, “Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman did not represent any particular political party. He worked for the entire nation.”
The event was also attended by NTF General Secretary Md Jamal Uddin, Treasurer Md Monowar Hossain, Organizing Secretary Prof Muhammad Nazrul Islam, and leaders of the JU unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal were present among others.
