Students of Jagannath University (JnU) organized a joyous rally to welcome the holy month of Ramadan.

The rally was held on Saturday after the Maghrib prayer, initiated by general students.

Starting from the university’s central mosque, the rally passed through the Science Building and ended at the Shaheed Minar with a brief gathering. During the rally, students chanted slogans such as "Ahlan Sahlan – Mahe Ramadan," "Preserve the sanctity of Ramadan," and "Welcome Ramadan with love and respect."

At the gathering, students urged authorities to control the prices of essential commodities, shut down cinema halls, and ban immoral activities to maintain the sanctity of Ramadan.

Masud Rana, a student from the Department of Physics said, "For the past 16 years, under a fascist regime, we couldn't organize any programs during Ramadan.

Riazul Islam, General Secretary of the university unit of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, said, "Last year, we sat here for Iftar, but the authoritarian administration stopped us. No tyrannical ruler can prevent people from practicing their religious beliefs. Every religious community in Bangladesh has the right to observe their faith freely.

After the rally, members of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir distributed dates among the students.
