Govt okays proposal not to implement CETP project at Tannery Estate

The government on Tuesday approved a proposal in principle not to implement the ‘Rectification and Upgradation of CETP and Establishment of SWM at BSCIC Tannery Industrial Estate, Dhaka’ project under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
The approval came from the 19th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs held at the Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
The meeting also approved a proposal of the Ministry of Shipping to take necessary steps as per the Public Procurement Act 2006 and Chittagong Port Authority Act 2022 for operating the New Mooring Container Terminal (NCT), including the overflow yard, under the own management of Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) for six months or until a new operator is appointed.
