JnU Finance Dept. wins Interdepartmental Football Cup

The Finance Department of the University has become the champion of the seventh interdepartmental football competition of Jagannath University. In the game, it defeated the English Department by 4-3 goals in a tiebreaker and became the champion. The game was drawn by 3-3 goals at the scheduled time.
On Monday, the prize distribution ceremony of the competition was held at the university's central playground, organized by the university's Sports Sub-Committee (Football and Hockey) and in collaboration with the Physical Education Center.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Md. Rezaul Karim was the chief guest of the event. He said, "Various competitions will be organized to develop students' interest in sports. I thank the students and the organizing committee for making the competition enjoyable and successful. The university administration will take measures to make the playground green and suitable."
In the program, chaired by the convener of the Sports Sub-Committee (Football and Hockey) Professor Dr. Md. Ali Noor, the university's treasurer, Professor Dr. Sabina Sharmin, said as a special guest, "If there is patience, courage and compassion in life, anyone can move forward - we see this through sports. We cannot be disappointed in anything and retreat, we have to try only then we can move forward."
In addition, in the special guest's speech, the convener of the Jagannath University Sports Committee, Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin, said, "From now on, Jagannath University will organize various competitions continuously throughout the year according to its capacity. The university administration should prioritize the allocation of budget for sports.
The welcome speech was delivered by the Sports Sub-Committee member Professor Dr. Mohammed Nasir Uddin and the Deputy Director of the Physical Education Center, Gautam Kumar Das. At this time, Jagannath University's Additional Registrar and Controller of Examinations Professor Dr. Mustafa Hasan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies Professor Dr. Muhammad Manzur Murshed Bhuiya, Proctor Professor Dr. Muhammad Tazammol Haque, Provost Professor Dr. Anjue Mane Ara and Transport Administrator Professor Dr. Md. Omar Faruk along with other teachers, students and officials enjoyed the final game and prize distribution.
Kausar Alam of the English Department of the runner-up team won the best player award in the competition. Al Hossain of the Marketing Department and Kausar Alam of the English Department of the runner-up team jointly won the highest (five) goal scorer award. In addition, Faisal of the Finance Department of the champion team won the best goalkeeper award.
Incidentally, a total of 40 teams including 38 departments and 2 institutes participated in the seventh inter-departmental football competition that started last November.
