Police on Saturday detained a man after a clash between the supporters of two candidates of Cumilla City Corporation elections that left two people bullet-hit.
The detainee was Abu Sufian Antu, 27, a president candidate of Cumilla City Chhatra Dal.
Eyewitness said a gunfight took place between the supporters of 'Horse symbol' and 'Bus symbol' outside the Munshi M Ali High School centre at around 10:30am.
Two supporters of Horse symbol--Tuhin Hossain and Jahir Hossain--sustained bullets wounds in their legs when Sumon, a Chhatra League leader, opened fire on them.
Then police's striking force went to the scene and dispersed the groups.

However, Antu's mother said Antu was at home during the clash.
The police official said they are trying to identify all involved in this incident.
Meanwhile, the injured were undergoing treatment at Cumilla Medical College Hospital.
